The kitchen table has a porcelain enamel top over a carved maple base with four original chairs. NO CHIPS ON PORCELAIN ENAMEL. The top has two spring-pullout leaves (which work fine) to extend the table's size, and a cutlery drawer on one side. The scalloped edging of the table top is black, and the eating surface has a light background wood grain pattern with a black diamond motif against a white border. The legs are connected with an X-brace. The four chairs are original and match the table base design and are exceptionally sturdy. According to the manufacturer's stamp on the underside, it was made on 4 June 1933 by Empire Furniture out of Somerville, Mass. The trade name for the enamel top is 'Porceliron'. The table measures approx. 40" x 24" (closed) and 44 ½" x 40" (open).
