In 1998, The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada commissioned critically acclaimed Canadian artist, Dusan Kadlec for a commemorative painting to mark the 125th Anniversary Prince Edward Island joining Confederation in 1873. There are 873 reproductions of this nostalgic image published. Each piece in the strictly limited edition is colour corrected, signed and numbered by the artist personally.
The painting depicts the Colonial Building, now known as Province House in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on a bright sunny day in 1873 during the official reading of the Union Proclamation that united Prince Edward Island to the new Dominion of Canada. Crowds, dressed in the finery of the day, stand outside and listen as the historic proclamation is read.
To ensure the lasting beauty and value of these special commemorative pieces of fine art, 100% acid free paper made expressly for fine art reproduction has been used.
To ensure its safety during transportation, the reproduction will come in a rigid stitched print holder constructed with 10 millimeter clear PVC that will not tear or crack. The holder is inserted with 2 millimeter recycled corrugated polypropylene board which is 100% moisture and heat resistant, is completely inert and will not give off any gases that could damage the art.
